We now have Dorper, Dorper cross and Polypay sheep for sale
here on the farm!
The Polypay is a synthetic breed, developed in the 1970's at
the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois, Idaho, and Nicholas Farms at Sonoma, California. Targhee x Dorset and Rambouillet x Finnsheep crosses were mated to form a 4-breed composite that could produce two lamb
crops and one wool crop per year. Polypays are a medium-sized, prolific breed with an extended breeding season. Good mothers
and milkers, they produce lambs with acceptable growth and carcass quality. The name Polypay comes from "poly" for many or
much and "pay" to indicate a return on investment and labor.
These are animals that we have On Sale, at this time. If interested in

*Also, All animals have dormate COCCIDIA
present in their system. Stress from moving to their new home may cause it to flair up and cause stress diarrhea to occur,
causing damage to the animal. All animals should be treated for coccidia soon after arriving at their new home or inspected
by a Vet to determine if they need treated for the stress caused by traveling to their new homes. Tejas Ranch is not responsible
for animals who develop any illneses at their new homes. All animals are healthy when they are picked up here.

Due to Spam, It has come to our attention that some of
our customers are experiencing emails being 'bounced" back to sender as undeliverable. We are not sure what the problem is,
but Yahoo nor Excite seem to be in a hurry to get it fixed. If you need to get in touch with us and you are experiencing the
bounced message problem, please just give us a call.
**Important Information: It is essential that you find
a reliable veterinarian that is knowledgeable about Goat & Sheep care. It is also very helpful to have a
mentor or "goat friend" that you can call with questions.
First know that Goats & Sheep are herd
animals, you will need to keep at least 2 for them to be happy and well adjusted.
**We do not recommend
that you purchase goats from any auction. MANY of the animals at auctions are sick, and some are sick enough that
they will not live to see another week. The stress of being placed in the auction, overcrowding, rough handling and contagious
illnesses all lead to this. Our advice STAY AWAY from livestock auctions all together.
Instead look for a knowledgeable goat
breeder who will be there to give you support after you take your goats home, as we do.
It doesn't matter how many goats a breeder
keeps, a larger goat breeder does not necessarily mean a better one. Ask local livestock veterinarians or even farm
stores for a reference to good goat breeders.
